During a patrol British Blackburn Skua plane attacked the German bomber Heinkel He 111, which have crashed into the ground. Skua also didnít make it back to base and crash landed on the frozen lake. The survivors from both planes meet in a small hut during the snowstorm. Both sides started to act distrustful, but they all realised that they have to work together just to stay alive in the cold winter environment.
Film based on true story of British and German pilots that joined their forces to survive in the Norwegian wilderness. It sis one of the movies that show how basic human insticts can put the war and politics aside when it comes to a simple matter of survival.
With only few historical inaccuracies (f.e. Smith tells the story that he was to take a barmaid on a date the day their plane have crashed, but Blackburn Skuas were carrier based aircrafts, so itís unlikely that he would be back from patrol the same day) this film is interesting offer, but made with limited budget and plot limited by the actual events it canít compete with the best war movies.
