In the year 140 AD Marcus Flavius Aquila, a young Roman centurion, arrives in Britain to serve as a garrison commander. His father was leading Roman Ninth Legion that disappeared during the expedition to the dangerous parts of Scotland and Marcus hopes to prove that his father wasnít coward that some people believe and that he was guarding the golden eagle (symbol of the legion) to the end. After a skirmish with Celtic warriors heavily injured Marcus is relieved from his command, so he decides to travel north and find the truth about his father and fate of the Ninth Legion.
Film based on a novel that is based on a legend that Ninth Legion (Legio IX Hispana) disappeared in unknown circumstances somewhere in Scotland. It is a legend, because there are reports that some of the disappeared men were later serving in other parts of Roman Empire. The movie shows the travel through wild forests of England and Scotland and notable battle scenes. It isnít particularly good movie nor up the scratch when it comes to historical accuracy, but is worth seeing.
